The Mill House collection highlights the time-honored techniques utilized during the early days of American furniture making. During those times craftsmen were limited to solid lumbers and materials they had, and they used techniques that were functional and sometimes visible to construct their furniture. The furniture itself was built with a form-follows-function perspective which meant that the pieces would be inherently well made. The use of those varying resources and the purposes for each piece, led to a sort of unintended eclectic style which, ironically, is popular with today’s consumer.
